Here is an article off the front page of my local paper the Pocono Record. When I read it I immediately thought of Texas:
Alleged Burglar Faces Business End of Shotgun
Basically, a local guy went to visit his dad and found some other guy in the process of stealing truck parts out of his dad’s garage. What does the guy do? What any red blooded American would do, he pulled out his 12 gauge from his truck and told the guy to get down on the ground and held the man at shotgun point until cops showed up. Needless to say, this rofled my waffle.
Some memorable quotes from the badass local in question include: “The way the world is, its like American Express (referring to his shotgun). I never leave home without it.”
and when Mr. Woodling called the cops: “When I called I told them I had 2 pounds of pressure on a 3-pound trigger, and they might want to get someone down here before one of us sneezed.”
Sometimes, I love the Poconos

In Texas, folks just shoot first – besides, we have hospitals. Best part, as it’s explicitly legal to do such (even on behalf of a neighbor), one isn’t charged with a crime.
There is no good excuse to be going through someone else’s stuff (short of the owner being dead, which is seemingly never the case).
