Trying out a new show notes format.
honestly …. i kinda liked the old notes they were a bit easier to understand …. but i dunno maybe these will grow on me
Guess I’m just used to the old notes as well. Perhaps it should be a poll? Anyway, enjoyed listening to the episode. Not sure I liked having just one host though. I like the diversity of opinions and paths on the show. Enjoyed hearing what Jason had to say.
Originally this was supposed to be a 15-20 minute segment in our community episode. However Jason went on for 2 hours on all sorts of interesting things, hence this became its own episode.
We have another one of these one-on-one shows in 108 (as that was an interview as well) but that’s the last one we plan on doing.
This episode only had 1 topic really so that is contributing to the difficulty of reading the show notes.
I am hoping to have show notes more along the format of the Pagan Podcasting Index, Click here for an example.
Thanks again Dave for allowing me on your podcast, and editing my blather down to some semblance of coherence. Just a quick FYI, I don’t live in Paganistan (the Twin Cities), but Milwaukee.
Fixed.
Thanks again Jason for being on the show!
I moved the timestamps to the right side, does that make things better or do you think bullets are needed?
I like where the times are. Im not sure either way on the bullets. Thanks, Dave.

I loved the show! I’ve never heard PCP before, and perhaps I won’t enjoy future episodes as well, since I _like_ the single interviewee(“guest host”) approach, which I guess you don’t usually do. But I’ll be listening, that’s for sure…
Thanks for the nod, too, Jason! I love the idea of being an “A List” blog! Though I think the weekly column–sometimes every other week when life is busy–makes my claim to that a little dicey. Still, the complement was greatly appreciated.
One thing Jason said I’d like to challenge: at least twice during the show you referred to Salem Massachusetts as a Pagan “hotspot”, like Paganistan or the Bay area. In my opinion, it is not! Salem is unquestionably the center of New England (maybe global!) Pagan self-promotion. But I think both Boston and Western Massachusetts are actually home to more vital and mature Pagan communities. Salem works to make news, but I think that Boston/Western Mass based organizations like the Earth Spirit Community, as well as the many college Pagan groups, Wiccan traditions from BTW to eclectic, Druid and Asatru groups, and so on, have much more impact in the region than any Salem-based organization. (Salem Pagans, challenge me if you wish; this is my impression based on 18 years as a Massachusetts Pagan.)
One other quibble: I think that Pagans have far more to offer one another than merely social connections. I know that I have grown and deepened in my spiritual journey through both dialog AND ritual encounters with Pagans from other traditions than my native Wicca. I style myself Pagan because I believe there is a spiritual power we can draw from within our very diversity, and that experiences across the boundaries of groups as diverse as reconstructionist paths, ecofeminist Wicca, Druidry, and Ceremonial groups can nourish us as we grow and develop over time. I hope the day never comes when, due to numerical growth, we isolate ourselves from one another.
Diversity, not monoculture, is the sign of a healthy ecosystem. I do not want to live a religiously monocultured spiritual life. (Of course, as the author of something named Quaker Pagan Reflections, I guess that’s pretty obvious!)
OMG! I used to live in western MA! Dalton, MA to be exact! I loved it there! I wasn’t exactly pagan then though.
You may want to listen to our Reconstructionism episode (Episode 98) where we discussed how Reconstructionists and those of Neo-Pagan religions can work together to enrich each other’s paths. Though I don’t think we mentioned spiritual enrichment directly in that conversation.
very interesting and insightful discussion. it hit upon many of the reasons why i feel nauseated when i hear the phrase “pagan community”, and why i wish that wasn’t the case.
and please keep the video game music. it makes the show feel epic.
Sorry, we dropped the video game music 87 episodes ago. Though it did make a cameo in Episode 100.
well whatever the hell it is you’re using now sounds like video game music to me. gives me the urge to dig up my snes for some starfox.
I loved this episode, especially when you were talking about the use of “magic” or “craft” names. I think more people need to realize that it’s ok if your name is Bob or Sue. It doesn’t make you less magical. You don’t have to be Raven Silver Moonbeam Star-Kitten, you can be Bob or Sue. And before you ask, yes, my name is Serenity Marie.
Anyway, just my two cents about names.
It makes me wanna play Zelda: A Link to the Past on snes or Star Tropics for the nes. I loved that game. Who knew killing zombie dogs with a yo-yo could be so addicting?
