About ImBleedingProfusely
There once lived a young bald-headed individual that was a stereotypical Gardnerian Wiccan. His name was Barrett. He wore his ritual robe and sandals everywhere, with nothing underneath. As a result, he was often curious as to why he was so cold in the winter and why people would give him weird looks at the local Wal-Mart.
One day, Barrett left his athame on a couch, on which he was sitting, and proceeded to sit back down on the couch. This led to his athame poking him in his buttocks, a funny facial expression followed by a long pause. Following the long pause, he uttered the first thing that came to mind which apparently was “I’m Bleeding Profusely!” Moral of the story, don’t do dumb things, what you utter may become a dot-com where people attempt to educate others to not make the same mistakes you made.

I liked that video. Whereas they did seem to attack a lot of “supernatural” topics, they do have a point behind them. And I know a lot of time I’ve seen where people will just jump to conclusions about it being this great cosmic happening, when it’s just a part of a natural occurrence. People tend to forget that while metaphysics is real, that doesn’t mean everyday you’ll have a spiritual experience. We’ve all dealt with experiences that made us who we are. But it’s things like someone trying to convince me they can invoke cartoon characters and then chastise me for not being open minded. While granted there were other aspects going on there, it had nothing to do with being close minded. You can be open minded and disagree with people, even aggressively and still be open minded.
We often confuse disagreeing or not believing or being disinterested is being close minded.
I do notice that there is a subtle message of science being an infallible path to truth and that being critical of it is “closed Minded”
One should be as critical of science as of anything else, sure the scientific community holds up ideals of being open to new ideas, seeking truth ect. But the scientific community is made up of people, and people are a problem.
How many ideas and discoveries did scientists scoff at and dismiss as complete lunacy for years or decades despite all proof until they were finally smacked over the head with proof so dramatic and visceral that to deny it would be insanity.
British naturalists laughed off reports by naturalists exploring Australia in the early days of British colonization, when they reported sighting the platypus
Multiple independent naturalists across different locations all make very similar reports with strikingly similar artistic renderings of the platypus
They scoff
A dead platypus is found and sent to England for study
They call it a forgery, sewn from the body of a monkey, the tail of a beaver and the bill and flippers of a duck.
Finally after years of being laughed at the Australian naturalists capture a live specimen and send it back to England,
Only then did it start to be accepted, and even so many who didn’t see it in person still refused to believe it.
The history of science is full of cases like this.
And then I read about theories built on other theories which have not been tested fully which in turn were built on theories which were not fully tested which in turn…you get the idea. Anyway, theories which have very little REAL evidence supporting them beyond mathematical reasoning (But just because you can prove something mathematically doesn’t mean it exists, otherwise explain how there are so many competing theories of how the universe works which are all mathematically sound and yet so different)
And yet people were willing to spend billions of dollars to build a device to test this theory, which had so little concrete proof.
When it comes down to it, the scientific community is as vulnerable to close mindedness, acting like bleating sheep and selective criticism as any “New Ager”, “Witch”, “Paranormalist” or “Occultist”. Why? They’re FUCKING HUMAN! I’m getting really sick of people thinking they’re above Human Nature just because they’re scientifically minded.
